If you are passionate about your home and garden furniture, you are in the right place. In this article, you will discover the secrets to taking care of velvet chairs and keeping them always shiny.

Velvet is an elegant fabric that adds a touch of class to any room. However, it needs to be looked after carefully to keep it in perfect condition over time. Here are some essential tips to protect your velvet chairs.

Ordinary cleaning1

Daily cleaning of velvet chairs is essential to keep them in excellent condition. It is not recommended to clean the velvet with water. It is best to use a vacuum cleaner to remove dust and dirt from the surface. Alternatively, soft fibre brush or a slightly damp microfibre cloth will work just as well. Gently vacuum or brush the surface of the velvet to ensure it always stays clean and fresh.

Removing Tough Stains

Stubborn stains can be a challenge, but there is a solution! Start with a microfiber cloth for light spots, rubbing a little more forcefully if needed. If, on the other hand, the stains are stubborn, you can opt for dry foam or products for the treatment of fabrics with active foam.

If you want to use the dry foam, apply the foam only on the affected area and leave it to act for a few minutes, brushing the fabric with the appropriate supplied applicator. This product is delicate because it is able to penetrate the fibres of the fabric, removing dirt, without wetting it. After use, wipe with a microfibre cloth to remove the excess. Should you prefer a spray product, we recommend products with active foam. Spray the product on the area at a distance of about 20 cm, without exceeding. Spread the foam evenly with a microfibre sponge using linear and non-circular movements. Always remove the excess product with the microfibre cloth and then dry the area with a second dry cloth. Velvet will be slightly damp to the touch, but will dry very quickly.

Remember to always test products on a small inconspicuous areas before use to test their delicacy.

Be careful with chemicals and water

Avoid harsh chemicals that could damage the delicate velvet. Always opt for specific products for velvet. Also, avoid washing the velvet with water, as this could compromise the structure of the fabric and cause permanent stains. Dry cleaning is your best bet.

How to Deal with an Accidental Spills

Accidental spills can cause panic, but acting calmly is essential. Do not pat or scrub the fabric, as this may push liquid into the fibres. Take an absorbent towel or cloth and press gently to absorb excess liquid. Let the rest air dry to avoid permanent damage.

Preventing Stain Formation

To prevent stains and dirt, clean your velvet chairs regularly. A light brushing occasionally may be enough to remove dust and other debris. Avoid direct exposure to sunlight, as this may cause discoloration over time.

Taking care of velvet chairs is a simple process if you follow our advice. Regular cleaning and the use of gentle products are key to maintaining the elegance of your velvet furniture for years to come.
